Africa Magic goes to Francophone TV

        South African terrestrial pay-television channel M-Net  have sub-licensed the rights of its AfricaMagic content to international distributor Thema TV.
    This deal will see a selection of AfricaMagic's Nollywood content translated into French language for the first time for television broadcast in Francophone Africa.
     Mike Dearham, head of sales and library, M-Net says: "This deal marks an important milestone in M-Net's growth in the global television market and supports our dedication to the development of Africa's content industry.

    The battle for the presidency of actors' apex body, Actors' Guild of Nigeria (AGN) and other elective positions  of the guild has begun and lead actors and actresses have shown their interests in holding the positions.
    According to Saturday Vanguard ,Foremost among the candidates vying for the guild's top  position is actor Emeka Rollas, the incumbent Secretary-General of the guild, and the man who contested against the former  president, Ejike Asiegbu.
    Another key contestant is ex-beauty queen and president of the Miss Earth beauty pageant, Ibinabo Fiberesima who has signified her intention to battle with her male colleagues for the presidency.


      Other candidates wishing to vie for electives positions of the guild are Stella Damasus who according  to our source, is contesting for the office of the Public Relations Officer(PRO), Mr Yakubu Abubakar,  incumbent PRO of the guild who is gunning for the post of the Secretary-Genera. Also vying for positions are Chukwudi  Bambo(Director of guild's services) and Omobola Rene-Badejo, the guild's Treasurer who is seeking re-election.
    Segun Arinze's tenure  expires next month when the members of the guild will go to the polls to elect their new executives.

Rapper Rick Ross Unconscious After Seizure on a flight

    Rick Ross passed out on flight from Florida to Memphis today and is unconscious. Paramedics are desperately trying to resuscitate him.
According to TMZ
Rick was on a flight going from Ft. Lauderdale to Memphis today, when the rapper lost consciousness.  The plane was forced to make an emergency landing.
Emergency workers tell us the call came in at 12:55 PM ET ... the caller reported a seizure.
   Ross is currently on a gurney at the airport, and an eyewitness tells us EMT workers are administering CPR.  Members of Rick's entourage are standing by, some of them extremely emotionally upset.

After Baba Suwe's Arrest,NDLEA Awaits him to pass out"Expensive shit"

   National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, waits for Nollywood comic Actor, Baba Suwe, to stool, 48 hours after he was arrested on suspicions that he concealed hard drugs in his stomach.
   The NDLEA Head of Public Affairs, Mr. Mitchell Ofoyeju, told P.M.NEWS this morning that the 53-year old popular comedian who is still in their custody was yet to defecate since he was arrested on Wednesday night at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, southwest Nigeria.

According to standard procedure, the Nollywood actor whose real name is Babatunde Ayinla Nurudeen Olasunkanmi Omidina must defecate and the waste analysed by the operatives. He will then be freed or charged to court for drug trafficking.
   The NDLEA airport commander, Hamza Umar said this morning that "there is reasonable ground for suspicion and the actor is currently under observation. He is fine and had been eating but has not excreted."
   He added that the suspect will remain under observation and the NDLEA doctor has been called upon to examine him. He said further update will be made as events unforld, Hamza said.
The suspect was detained by NDLEA officials after the United States-donated scanner at the Lagos airport detected substances suspected to be hard drugs in his stomach.
According to NDLEA sources, he was on his way to Paris, the French capital to act as a master of ceremony in a naming event of the child of an Air France staff scheduled for tomorrow.
    He was on his way to board an Air France flight when he was suspected by anti-narcotics agents, taken to the scanning room and detained.
    His passport was seized and the flight was allowed to go without him. The Air France staff (name withheld) was also arrested.
   At the time of writing this report, Baba Suwe was still under observation at the NDLEA airport office in Lagos.
  Sources said Baba Suwe has denied that he swallowed hard drugs and the truth will only be known after he defecates today or whenever.
Meanwhile, following the arrest of Baba Suwe by NDLEA, his colleagues have expressed shock over drug scandal.
They wondered why an actor of his stature could be involved in drug trafficking.
   Former President of Association of Nigerian Theatre Art Practitioners, Prince Jide Kosoko was full of anger.
He said: "Are you sure it is true? If it is, it is madness. It is madness I repeat. I can hardly believe the story. What else does he want in life? This is madness, complete madness I say."
Sunday Omobolanle aka Papy Luwe who called to confirm the report said he was shocked.
"But I can't believe that what I am hearing is true. A friend who is in London spoke with me on phone and said that he saw the story on-line. Sorry I will speak with you later."
  Barrister Tunji Bamishigbin, an actor and a Lawyer, said if it is true that Baba Suwe is involved in drug peddling, then he does not deserve the position and respect the Nigerian society has accorded him.
"It is also a big shame and it is very disappointing because the society sees us as the mirror through which they watch themselves and if we are found where we are not supposed to be, it is very shameful."
Star Actress, Remi Oshodi aka Surutu expressed disappointment with Omidina's shameful act.
"because whoever is not satisfied with whatever he or she has will end up where he is not supposed to be. We are the mirror through which the society mirrors itself and as parents we should live by example. It is a big disgrace to us all," she said.
   A young actor Femi Brainard also condemned the shameful act of the star actor, saying "this shameful act must be stopped because Wunmi was the first victim, and because she was pardoned does not mean that Baba Suwe will go scot free. What he has done is a slap on us and the entire movie industry. This time around he must be made to face the music."
   According to Hon Rotimi Makinde, a member of the House of Representatives, "it is a rude shock. "It's indeed a disgrace to many of us and the industry I so cherish. I reserve further comments for now until I get details." He spoke through his media aide, Sanya Ojo.
   The incident has generated a huge backlash against the comedian, with some saying it is a comedy of errors.

Lagbaja to sunday Are;You are a liar

    Entertainment practitioner and Manager of many top artistes ,Sunday Are granted an interview recently and claimed that he built  many artistes to reach the top.Part of the artistes he mentioned was Lagbaja,but he(lagbaja) has called all sunday are said in the interview lies. 


 Sunday Are 's interview,
    "Most people don't really know what I've achieved in my life. How would anyone know that I was the one that set up Tunde and Wunmi Obe's band? How many people know I set up D'Banj and the Mo'hits band? "Nobody remembers that I took Obesere to Sony Music and helped him record Asakasa, O.B.T.K, Mr. Teacher. Nobody knows I worked alongside Laolu Akins, Shina Peters, Wasiu Ayide Marshal and many others". On Lagbaja, he said, "We had a concept which was to have a faceless human being that can sing, play the instrument and dance. Initially, we were using one of our friends, Kunle Ojomo. And at a time, we used different persons to wear the mask. But one day, I told Lagbaja that he needed to start wearing the mask.
When I told him that he had to start wearing the mask, he was angry at the beginning. I told him the concept was most suitable for one who plays the instrument and who can also dance. He could sing, dance and play the instrument. But after three months of trying out the mask, he got used to it and now Lagbaja has come to stay. But it took my iron hand to achieve that and I thank God".

I feel a little shame that I would sink as low as to respond to the megalomaniac rant of Sunday Are. I typically would never respond to such, for I live by a different code. Let me simply state unequivocally that every single claim that Sunday Are made in these articles about his role with Lagbaja, is an absolute lie. Every single one; never happened". 

   Yinka Oyedeji, Lagbaja's ex- manager, also refuted Sunday Are's claims, saying he worked with them only as a sound engineer.
"In fact, he was the sound engineer for the band, not at the studio during recordings. Sunday left the band because he could not handle the sophisticated equipment the band got for its performances later and we had to get another person"

Rapper Big Boi of OutKast settles drug charges,avoids jail term

 Grammy-winning Outkast rapper BigBoihas reached a deal on Florida drug charges that allows him to avoid jail time.
Big Boi appeared in a Miami courtroom Thursday as prosecutors outlined the deal that includes three months of drug testing,community service and $2,000 in donations to charities. The 36-year-old rapper's real name is Antwan Patton.
He was arrested getting off a cruise ship in August when a K-9 dog alerted to drugs Big Boi was carrying. The substances included ecstasy, a cigarette roller with marijuana residue and the ecstasy ingredient MDMA.
Big Boi had faced two felony drug charges. Prosecutors say if he remains drug-free after three months of testing, those charges will be dismissed.
The Atlanta-based group OutKast has won six Grammys and made six platinum-plus albums, including "Speakerboxxx/The Love Below."
