Twin-X celebrates a milestone with you Posted: 27 May 2011 09:21 AM PDT
They started their music career then in Ibadan city with Big Bamo (Tolu and Olu Maintain's former Manager) as their producer and Manager .See their press release below. Today Friday May 27, 2011 (Children's day) it is exactly 10 years that we released our chat topping debut hit single "Mother mi"! Meaning our formal entry and career in the mainstream entertainment industry is 10 years old now. It all feels like yesterday, those sunny afternoons in April/May 2001, as we drove through the busy streets of Lagos with Big bamo our then manager with the song "olu orun mapa mother mi lekun, edumare oba ma pa iya mi lekun" playing in his car stereo. We were new in town with no special connections with the mainstream media but for a few friends and family here and there. On eventual release, the song spoke for itself and paved the way for us; we shot a star studded video which featured some of the top Media, Music and Movie stars of that time, a masterpiece in its own right. Then, our journey into recognition started. The tours, the gigs, fans, awards, joy of touching lives, the campuses, the school children and love from mothers in different parts of Africa became regular features in our quiet lives even as we remained in the University to complete our degrees. Then came that hit album "Plenty Money" in 2004 which opened up the doors of international recognition cum businesses and the single "Oya" in 2006 that further sealed the international status of Twin-X. We have been overwhelmed by calls, emails and comments from so many people – fans from far and wide who for years now have been asking and wondering why Twin-X is not on TV or selling new CDs on the shelves anymore, it feels great to know that our works are still valued and to also know that we have inspired a whole lot of the current wave making artistes in Nigeria. We humbly say thank God and say we are proud of the role-model tag and your evergreen rating of our works. As we thank God for our lives and the life of our sweet mom for whom the song was dedicated, we say a sincere thank you to everyone that has been supportive of our career directly or indirectly; our family, the Nigerian media, past managers especially Big-Bamo who produced the song, our super producers – Cobham, Don Jazzy, K-solo, Paul Play Dairo, Dr. Frabz…etc, the agencies, brand managers, fellow artistes and most importantly our fans all over the world. We are fine and well and shall be blessing Nigerian television pretty soon with some of our new innovation as a "Brand Beyond Music". By massive demand, and as our token to you all for standing by us, we have officially re-issued the track "Mother mi" for our fans and media to own it again for free download:Listen and download |
