New York Declares 'June 19' Annual Justin Bieber Appreciation Day Posted: 22 Jun 2012 12:09 PM PDT Teen pop-sensation Justin Bieber has been honoured with a special day called the Justin Bieber Appreciation Day. The 18-year-old attended a record signing tuesday at an electronics store in Manhattan where he was visited by the Manhattan Borough President Scott M Stringer. The borough official handed the pop star a framed certificate to mark the special day. "This proclamation is on behalf of the 1.6 million people who live in Manhattan, and it's very exciting to have Bieber here with us. I don't give proclamation unless I believe," said Stringer. Manchester City and Ivory coast 's central defender Kolo Habib Toure got married to his long-time fiancee chimene Akassou last week in Abidjan, in a ceremony that attracted distinguished personalities from the world of politics and sports. The wedding ceremony took place at a mosque and the couple later signed their marriage documents at a registry. A grand reception was held during the weekend,with most of the Ivory Coast national team players in attendance. Kolo's younger brother , club mate and African Footballer of the Year Yaya Toure was the best man. Kolo and chimene have been living together in England since 2003 . They have two children, daughter Sania and son Yiassin together.

Fela’s Kalakuta Republic To Be Converted to Museum Posted: 22 Jun 2012 01:29 AM PDT Afrobeat Legend fela anikulapo kuti's kalakuta republic at ikeja,lagos is being reported to be converted to museum. The ulta modern project has been approved by the Lagos State Government . After Completion the building will have an exhibition area, a coffee shop, a 5-room boutique hotel, a roof-top restaurant, a bar and stage, a souvenir shop, a passenger lift, the tomb area and the car park. The museum will possess the preservation of the history of fela, promotion of tourism in line with the Lagos State's Mega City initiative, acquisitions, display and preservation of the artifacts and many other things. The Museum is supported by the Lagos State Government and scheduled for opening in October 2012 in time for 'Felabration. |
