The bawse, Rick Ross has just been ranked No 1 on 2011 MTV's Hottest MC in the game . According to MTV ,2011 was apparently a year of Maybach Music Group(MMG) ,the truth is, Rozay's 2011 reign didn't hinge on an album release. The Bawse set things up properly in February 2011 when he signed his Maybach Music Group record label over to Warner Music Group and scooped up newcomer Meek Mill (this year's #7 Hottest MC), Wale (#10). Bobby Brown and New Edition Coming to Nigeria For Concert in Lagos and Portharcourt Posted: 20 Feb 2012 08:40 AM PST Bobby brown and new edition It's official! - Grammy award winning American musician Robert Barisford Brown (Bobby Brown) is coming to Nigeria for the first time ever. And he's making the trip with his pop group New Edition! The R&B Singer, Song writer and dancer confirmed his appearance for the high budget concert organized by R28 events in an audio statement released on Monday from his base in America. The concert is scheduled for Friday March 9 in Lagos and Sunday March 11, in Port Harcourt. In the audio message, Bobby Brown confirms he'd be in Nigeria in March "We'll be rocking the stage live in Nigeria live on March 9 and 11. Don't you dare miss it." This is the first time New Edition will be performing in Nigeria, a city where they have millions of fans and followers. According to their management, the former group members will travel to Nigeria with a crew of 50 band members and associates. And as fans, the music industry and R&B lovers gear up for the event that has been tagged "The show of the year", the organizers have confirmed that 2face, Banky W, Duncan Mighty are getting set to perform alongside the visiting group. Other co-headliners include Omawumi, eLDee, Burna Boy and Modenine. "Music fans who appreciate the quality of good musical performances will be thrilled by the collection of the finest musicians we are putting together, this is a concert you don't want to miss," Gbolahan Balogun MD of R28 Events says. The Lagos and Port Harcourt concerts will be dedicated to Bobby's ex-wife Whitney Houston who passed on February 11. 2012. AMAA Awards Nomination Party Holds March 17 Posted: 20 Feb 2012 06:34 AM PST African film academy, the organizers of African Movie academy awards(AMAA) have revealed the 8th Annual AMAA award Nominations party will hold March 17,2012 in Ghana . Africa Film Academy (AFA) invited filmmakers last july to submit their Feature, Short, and Documentary works in order to be considered for Nominations. The nominations closed december 30,2011 .Only films produced and released between December 2010 and December 2011 would enter for the 2012 AMAA as disclosed to celebregion by the organizers. The Nominees in all categories will be announced during the night. Music stars and comedians have been billed to perform . The 2012 AMAA Awards will take place April 22,2012 and the theme for this year is Africa rising. Music,Sport and TV Stars Celebrate Muhammad Ali's 70th Birthday [photos] Posted: 20 Feb 2012 04:32 AM PST P.Diddy and Muhammad ali Some of the biggest names in sports and entertainment came out to celebrate boxing legend Muhammad Ali's 70th Birthday saturday Night .The event ,Keep Memory Alive 16th Annual "Power of Love Gala" honoring Muhammad Ali with his 70th birthday celebration was held at MGM Grand Garden Arena Snoop Dogg sang a medley of his hits, John Legend, Kravitz, Slash, Kelly Rowland and Cee Lo Green all performed. LL Cool J rapped "Mama Said Knock You Out" as DJ Z-Trip span a remixed version of the song that included Ali audio, including his famous "float like a butterfly, sting like a bee" quote. In addition to the rappers, A-listers like Cindy Crawford, Samuel L. Jackson, David Beckham, Larry King, Quincy Jones, Ken Jeong, Buzz Aldrin, Lenny Kravitz, Anthony Hopkins, John Legend, Joe Perry, Slash, Terrence Howard, Kris Kristofferson and others honored Muhammad Ali. Stevie Wonder serenaded Muhammad Ali with a "Happy Birthday" song. Tennis star Andre Agassi said Ali has shown the world that each person has a duty regardless of their occupation to live for more than him or herself and help others. President Barack Obama lauded Muhammad Ali "Happy birthday, champ," Obama told Ali through a video message, saying he wished he could have attended the gala in Las Vegas . And even after all the titles and legendary bouts, you're still doing it." The gala raised funds for the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health and the Muhammad Ali Center in Louisville, a cultural attraction that celebrates Ali's life and pushes educational goals on a wide range of topics for adults and children.
