Amy winehouse's album becomes 21st century's best seller

      Britain's Official Charts Company has disclosed that  Winehouse's Grammy-award winning "Back to Black" has become the best-selling album in the U.K. in the 21st century.
      The company, which tracks music sales in the U.K., said Wednesday that "Back to Black" overtook James Blunt's 2005 debut album to claim the title this week.
    Winehouse's second album had jumped to the No. 1 spot on the charts shortly after the soul singer was found dead in her London town house on July 23. An initial post-mortem failed to determine cause of death, and Winehouse's family said Tuesday that toxicology tests showed she had no illegal drugs in her system when she died.
   An inquest into Winehouse's death begins in October.

Jay z and Kanye west's 'Throne'remains chart topper for second week

    Jay-Z and Kanye West remain kings of  the charts for another week. The rap superstars' collaborative album Watch the Throne holds the No. 1 spot again on this week's Billboard 200.

     Throne sold an additional 177,000 copies in its second week to bring its sales total to 613,000, according to Billboard. The album officially spent one full week at digital and physical retailers since its release on August 8. It opened with 436,000 copies based primarily on digital sales at iTunes.
Unlike the previous week where digital sales accounted for 74% of Throne's intake digital purchases only represented only 35% of sales this week.

West African Idol, Jerrilyn Mulbah preps new songs with producer Fliptyce, Samklef & J Sleek.

      West African idol, Jerrilyn Mulbah as previously reported by several Nigerian media outlets is working on a ground breaking video for her singles.    
     We gather that the Liberian-born singer who now lives in Nigeria with her daughter would be working with Fliptyce, who produced the favourite 'Chop  my money' track on P Square's The Invasion...

She was part of the top five finalist in the edition that saw Timi Dakolo emerge as winner and Omawumi as runners up. Fours years after the West African Idols, she released two singles titled 'Molejo' and 'Mr DJ' which were produced by Kiss Music Studios producer, Meka E and written by Jerrilyn and Dipo Abdul for Miss Dynamite Entertainment.

It is gathered that a new song has been recorded with Fliptyce and following from Flip's growing list of hit records from Faze's I'm in the mood to Danny Young's Oju ti tiwon, a record that's bound to grow on listeners is what it has been described by a witness at the recording session. SHe would also be working with Samklef and Jay Sleek in weeks before the video shoot planned for later in the year. Video would be directed by Taiwo Badex who just arrived from France where we are informed he went to take professional courses, He was also a former editor with the TV channel, Soundcity. He would be directing the video for Mr DJ, which promises to be a true dance video as choreography for the video has been ongoing for weeks now.

After Mr. DJ, another two videos would be shot.

Bigbrother Amplified Housemate ,Alex lands first Movie role

      Ghana's representative at the just ended Big Brother Amplified  reality show, Alex Biney has landed his first ever movie role.



      After a relatively successful reality show, Alex is making his debut in the movie, Sons of Satan, directed by controversial movie director and producer Socrate Sarfo(hot fork).
Sons of Satan is based on the internet scam popularly called 'Sakawa' which is plaguing society. The movie captures the new trend sakawa has taken as most youth now use spiritual powers to seduce rich women to get money from them.

    'Ladies Man', Alex is playing the role of a boy friend, Papa, to a girl who has very little time for him.
The very shy first-time actor who had to be pushed before kissing on set is expected to appear in eleven scenes in the movie and as at Monday, Alex had shot seven of those scenes. 
The movie also stars Fred Amugi, Vivian Achor, Baby Blanch, Duke Felix, Bentus Lord Otoo, Jerry Botwe and Fred Safo Dakwa. Sons of Satan is under production and is expected to hit the market soon.

Nollywood star actress,Funke akindele adds another year

        Nollywood star actress/producer Funke Akindele a.k.a Jenifa is a year older today . Funke who was born on August 24,1976 in Ikorodu area of lagos state attended Ogun state Polytechnic and University of Lagos where she obtained a Law degree.

   Funke has produced many movies  including her hits ,Omo  ghetto and Jenifa .She won African Movie academy awards for best leading actress in 2009 for her role in Jenifa
 Funke will premiere her long awaited omo Ghetto part 2 on August  28 ,2011 .

Praiz set to release new singles

    With a growing legion of fans and soaring mass appeal, suave looking singer Praiz has been busy in recent times spending time in the studio and putting finishing touches to his debut album for X3M music.

      His style, which is a blend of soul and R&B and his ability to hit high notes as he teases with his high pitched voice, catches one's attention easily.

    The fast rising RnB singer/vocalist who recently stunned guests at the MBGN 2011 grand finale in Lagos when he delivered a performance hailed as 'unforgettable' by critics is set to release two new singles titled 'I love you' and 'Jekalo'.

     According to the uber talented act; 'I love you' featured production efforts by Wole Oni while TY mix produced 'Jekalo'.
The two new singles are expected to come out as first official efforts by Praiz in 2011. He was earlier reported to be working with top producers in the music industry and was even the star of the evening at the recent champagne conversation held at Eko hotels in Lagos.
Speaking on the inspiration behind his latest offering, the eclectic singer said "I'm offering these two songs to anyone who has ever felt the sweetness of love. Working on 'I love you' and 'Jekalo' was a positive experience for me and I'm talking to love birds on these cuts. It's from Praiz with love and I'm sure everyone will fall in love with these songs''.

      Praiz first came to national limelight when his unique singing style caught the eyes of many at Project Fame TV reality show where he thrilled viewers across Africa and beyond. He was adjudged second runner up as he showed great signs of promise and has been tagged 'the golden voice' as a result of his vocal dexterity.

     Since then he has gone on to wow music critics and fans with cameo appearances and collaborative efforts with top artistes in Nigeria; most notably his stellar performance on M.I's 'Epic' and a guest appearance on alternative singer Bez's 'Super Sun' album.
Praiz is signed to X3M music, a Lagos-based label founded by Steve Babaeko.
