I do not tweet, blog -Wole Soyinka Denies handle @profsoyinka and other impersonators

Posted: 11 Jan 2012 10:46 PM PST

Nigerian writer and  Nobel laureate Professor Wole soyinka has disclosed that he is not a fan of the social media as he doesn't tweet ,blog or use facebook . A fake account was created on twitter with handle @profsoyinka which currently has 16,186 followers and many fake on facebook too.
In a statement entitled: A Dangerous Game of Impersonation, the renowned playwright expressed anger over the use of his name for indecent circulation of electronic messages.

Once again, taking advantage of a situation of national unrest, some unscrupulous individuals have taken to circulating comments, often of a most distasteful, uncouth and unprincipled nature, in my name. I wish to inform the public that I do not Tweet, Blog, Facebook etc. etc. My public statements are signed and/or go through authorized channels that the media recognize and can authenticate where in doubt. Any electronic message that purports to emanate from me for general circulation through Mobile phones or Internet should be taken as a complete concoction, in most cases by deranged minds with their private and sick agenda.I must remind the public that these are not normal times, and that extreme caution and personal responsibility are needed. It is no time to be taken in by spurious propaganda by cowards who cannot speak in their own voices or acknowledge the names given to them at birth or even acquired during their nefarious careers.Even more than the nausea one feels by being subjected to such identity embezzlement is the danger it poses generally, since it is certain that there are others who are similarly afflicted. One hopes therefore that the Security services , when called upon to assist in tracking down these felons, will recognise this goes beyond individual clamour and will act promptly, not only in unmasking, but in prosecuting them as befit criminal minds with the capacity for incalculable damage to an already fragile social fabric.

Beyonce's Baby Sparks Vandalism at NC Church-Blue Ivy is Satan on Earth

Posted: 11 Jan 2012 09:37 AM PST

Beyonce and Jay z's new baby Blue Ivy Carter has triggered vandalism in a North Carolina church .
The vandals defaced the sign in front the church yesterday ..writing, "Beyonce had her baby,Satan is on Earth"

TMZ Reports the pastor at the Beulah Hill Baptist Church in West End, NC  discovered the vandalism yesterday after receiving numerous complaints from locals  and removed it immediately.
The pastor insists, the church had nothing to do with the apocalyptic message . it was simply the victim in a random act of mischief.

In other news Beyonce's sister ,solange knowles has refuted the rumours going around that her sister had a fake baby and wasn't pregnant at all.

She tweeted some hours ago;
It has really gotten out of hand. I've been doing my best at keeping my mouth shut….but the ignorance is really sad and upsetting. We are supposed to be super human and watch people we love get slandered, lied on, and ridiculed. It is one of THE hardest things to accept. In any other workplace…if someone directly tells your mother or sister is a liar and a fake etc…you would naturally express yourself. However, the pure happiness and joy I've witnessed and experienced helps me to keep my mouth shut.

Can the Govt.Address Our Problems In Order of Importance?-BasketMouth #OccupyNigeria

Posted: 11 Jan 2012 12:14 AM PST

Ace comedian Bright okpocha popularly known as basketmouth has shared his opinion on the recent removal of fuel subsidy .

Read what he shared below
Subsidy is not really the problem, the problems here happen to be the ones we have been facing before we got Independence (ELECTRICITY,WATER,ROADS, SECURITY, EDUCATION,FUNCTIONAL REFINERIES just to name a few)

If the refineries were working, we wont be talking about exportation or importation of our own natural resources, if there was electricity, the consumption of fuel and diesel will be on zero %, because as it is, we spend more on our generators than we spend on cars daily. If the refineries were working and we had more, that is more employment,a better and stronger economy etc, if the educational system was in top form, youths wont be seeking admission in foreign schools, schooling abroad used to be luxury but now its a necessity.

If the subsidy is removed today, how does that stop the excesses we spend on fuel in our generators, an average Nigerian spends more than N100,000.00 to have a 12hr power supply from a fuel generating system while we are supposed to be spending a maximum of N6,000 every month if the power supply was steady.

We have a bag of problems, can the govt address them in the order of importance?!!!!

In the western world, power outage for less than 2hrs is breaking news and makes headline all over the world, but in Nigeria random power outages for the past 51years is part of our culture and has become a tourist attraction.

Lets fight for our basic rights, lets come together and have one voice against the govt and bad leadership,we are the present and future of this great Nation, its time we get what is ours, its time we stand together as one and fight a good cause.

Amongst many, ELECTRICITY is something we shouldn't be denied of in 2012, REFINERIES are structures every state in Nigeria should have, if not three at least one.
