Jennifer Lopez And Marc Anthony Split

      After seven years of what appeared to be wedded bliss, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony have called it quits.
       
     "We have decided to end our marriage," Lopez and Anthony revealed to People magazine via a joint statement. "This was a very difficult decision. We have come to an amicable conclusion on all matters.
    "It is a painful time for all involved," the statement continued, "and we appreciate the respect of our privacy at this time."
This news likely comes as a shock to their fans, as the seemingly happy couple were seen together frequently during the most recent season of "American Idol," on which Lopez served as a judge and Anthony appeared in the audience several times and as a mentor to the contestants.
     Lopez and Anthony were married in June 2004 at Lopez's Beverly Hills home. The wedding was a major surprise in the entertainment world, given the fact that J.Lo had ended her highly publicized relationship with Ben Affleck only 18 months before, and even more so for the family and friends who attended the casual ceremony, all of whom had been invited to attend under the guise of a summer party.

     The two Latin superstars dated briefly in the '90s and remained friends in the years before their marriage. Anthony was previously married to former Miss Universe Dayanara Torres, while Lopez was  maerried to Ojani Noa and Cris Judd. Professionally, Anthony and Lopez have recorded a number of duets together and starred and produced the feature film, El Cantante.
Lopez and Anthony have two children together, 3-year-old twins Max and Emme.

Final Harry Potter sets midnight box office record

      It beat the previous midnight record set last summer by "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse," which earned around $30 million for its midnight screenings.
    Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2," the final film in the successful Warner Bros boy wizard franchise, conjured up $43.5 million from midnight shows Friday, according to studio estimates.
      With the addition of 3-D, "Part 2" could end the franchise's spellbinding 10-year story with a total weekend debut approaching $150 million. That would surpass the $125 million opening last November of the first "Deathly Hallows" installment.
The current debut weekend record is $158 million set by "The Dark Knight" in 2008.

     Verbana Servicing Outfit, an upscale brand management and public relations outfit, is organizing a free creative writing interactive community as part of its empowerment CSR initiative, in partnership with various organizations, NGO's  and corporate bodies, with logistics support from Art World.
      The forum will be hosted by Ebi Akpeti, author "The Perfect church".
The set goals and objectives is to develop the basic understanding of the literary genre, especially in the dynamics of plots, styles and theme, fiction or nonfiction, with an aim to "preserve Nigeria's literary tradition which was made world famous by Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka, Chinua Achebe, Ben Okri, Niyi Osundare, Chimamanda Adichie etc.

    The series which is scheduled to take place on the 30th of July 2011 would be an avenue to address the creative writing challenges faced in Nigeria such as degenerating reading culture, plagiarism and poor copyright protection – all of which rob writers and artists of their benefits and several other challenges.
Various creative writing modules will be implemented at this workshop such as Narrative theory practice, Narratives from life, Individual writing project, reading and writing, discussion of creative writing process and the role of literature in the society and also be an opportunity to get published.
The work shop is a part of a developmental campaign that will be implemented across the nation to harness skills and potentials.

      Come July 31, the best line up of Nigerian entertainers will storm the city of Abuja for the first leg of this year's Crack Ya Ribs.
The show which is one of Nigeria's biggest concerts has over the years been described as an exciting night of music and comedy show.

      According to the host of the show, Julius D'Genius Agwu, he said the organizers of the show are putting lots of efforts into this year's show to give the people resident in Abuja quality entertainment that will linger in their minds for a long time. "For the people that have been part of Crack Ya Ribs in Abuja in the past, they can testify to the standard of the show in terms of quality entertainment and we don't intend to rest on our oars. Aside our line up of entertainers for this year's Crack Ya Ribs, there will be lots of surprises at the show. We are introducing something that has never been done before in Abuja. And not that we want to do something extra ordinary so to say, we are simply taking entertainment to the next level. With all modesty, Abuja will rock on July 31".

     Some of the headliners of the show are Okey Bakassi, Ice Prince, Basketmouth, I Go Dye, Flavour, Funny Bone, Tiwa Savage, Senator, Dan DHumorous, Osama, Lynxxx and the host of the show, Julius D'Genius Agwu.
    The venue of this year's show is the Thisday Dome and tickets for the show are already selling in some select stores in Abuja. As usual, Aero Contractors, which is the official carrier of the Abuja show and also one of the leading airlines in Nigeria, will be flying the entertainers from Lagos to Abuja.

Crack Ya Ribs has held in different part of the world including London and America. It has no doubt become one of the biggest annual concerts in Nigeria. The 10th anniversary edition of the event was celebrated in Lagos last year amidst pomp and pageantry with the attendance of great personalities. The show has featured great entertainers in the past ranging from Ali Baba, D'Banj, Basorge Tariah, 2Face Idibia, MI, Okey Bakassi, Seyi Law, Timaya, Gandoki and many others

Sammie Okposo Gets International Record Deal ,Moves into Lekki Mansion

     For the first time, Oklahoma based Tate music group (TMG)Records, a wholly white owned and managed record label in America has signed on to the label their first black artiste.
   
      The fluky artiste is Nigeria's own gospel music wonder boy who has re-defined contemporary gospel music, Sammie Okposo. The deal has been described as a legendary one by Okposo's Business Development Manager, Tony Nwakalor of Yes Records.
     The label has announced August 15, 2011 as the official press conference in America where the label executives will reveal all the details of the record deal to the media and why they signed him to Tate Music Group. The photo shoot for his new album is the day after, August 16 in Oklahoma.
    According to Okposo's publicist, Media & Marketing Experts (MME), the first project that will be carried out by TMG Records is to release Okposo's new album, The Statement to the international market. The album will be re-produced by 10 times Grammy Awards winner, Kevin Bond with support from Sammie Okposo to infuse the African flavour. Talks are also currently on with the managements of different international artistes like Chevelle Franklyn, Mary Mary, Israel Houghton, Kirk Franklin and Deitrick Haddon for possible collaborations on some tracks on the album. 


      Speaking concerning the new deal, Okposo said the deal is a long awaited one. "The deal to release my album internationally and find it in every music store across the world is a welcome development but it doesn't mean my previous albums were not sold outside Nigeria. Just that it was on a small scale. We believe the new deal will open more doors and boost our image internationally. It is long overdue", he said.
       The United Nations Ambassador who marked his wedding anniversary on July 1, 2011has also moved into a new palatial edifice in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos. The architectural master piece had been described as one of its kind by those that have been opportune to visit the Okposos new home.
       The magnum-opus is a five bedroom duplex with a pent house and a Boys Quarter. Okposo who confirmed the development said it's an anniversary gift for his wife.
 His new video, I Go Dance has been released. The new video was directed by fast rising video director, T-Frizzle with artistic direction provided by Sammie Okposo. The likes of Daddy Showkey, DJ Gosporella, Duby, members of D-X Generation Band and Zamar's Entertainment act, J'odie made appearances in the video. 

RMD to celebrate 50th birthday in church on July 31st

       Celebrities, family and friends of ace actor and Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Richard Mofe Damijo , will gather to celebrate his 50th birthday  on Sunday July 31st at the Household of God Church, Lagos Nigeria,.

     His boss, Gov.Emmanuel Uduaghan has chosen his birthday, to inaugurate RMD as one of the returning Commissioners. This turned the oath taking ceremony to a big party, with the Governor leading others to extol the man who is well respected in Nollywood.
The main party  will hold on Sunday 31st July, and his wife Jumobi popularly called (JMD), is cooking up a one in town bash to mark her husband's entry into the golden age.
