  Popular comedian I go dye has been awarded 'Night of a thousand laff 'Most outstanding comedian .
   The award was given to him by Opa william ,the creator of the popular comedy show at the last edition of Nite of a thousand laugh ,Benin City edition .
   Receiving the award, the comedian  said "I'm honored to be given this award by critical mind like Opa William. Though I was turned down four times, I was not discouraged and mounting the stage all these years became a turning point in my career.I was born on the street and today the love gotten from the street has given me honor. This award is therefore dedicated to the undiscovered talents on the street and it is important not to always give up our dreams".
  Night of a thousand laughs was launched in 1995 by opa williams and has served as a platform for comedians like basketmouth , I go dye, julius agwu,Gordons and many more to launch their career .

Nollywood Actor Femi Adebayo Robbed At Gunpoint

     Nollywood star actor/producer, Femi adebayo who is the son of Veteran actor Adebayo salami was robbed at gun point in Lagos last night.
   Femi was coming from sango otta where he had gone to shoot a movie .On getting to ogba in lagos, armed robbers crossed his new black and white Kia sorento Jeep and took the car away with his uncle (Ahmed ) in it.His uncle was later dropped after some minutes .
 We learnt the car was abandoned by the armed robbers and  found few hours later .

Apollo Theatre to Induct Lionel richie,Etta james into Hall of Fame

     Singer-songwriter Lionel richie and the late Etta james will be inducted into the apollo theatre's hall of fame in New York City.The ceremony will be held at the historic Harlem theater on June 4.
   Richie performed with The Commodores at the Apollo in the 1970s. 
James' versatile style included blues, soul, jazz, R&B and rock. She's known for ballads such as "At Last" and "Trust in Me." She performed at the Apollo in 1957 and again in the 1960s.
   Her last album, "the dreamer" was released just three months before her death on Jan. 20. She was 73.
  Past Apollo Legends Hall of Fame inductees include Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin and Patti Labelle.

Nollywood stars Join Activists For International Women's Day Rally [Photos]

  Nollywood stars- foluke daramola, Ayo badmus joined pastor tunde bakare(save Nigeria group) ,Dr Joe okei-odumakin(president,women arise) for a rally/march to mark international women's day march 8,2012 .
      The rally took off from Allen-Round about ikeja to Alausa Secretariat, after some speakers have expressed their views on women and girl-child abusein the country.This year's celebration is tagged  Fix the Girls ,Shape the Future.

   Dr. Joe Okei-Odumakin  decried the rising cases of women and girl-child abuse, saying that it was uncalled for and urged government to do something about it.
"There have been so many acts of violence against women and girls. Women should rise against it while the government should pay more attention to this," she said.
    Nollywood actress, Folake Daramola called on girls to keep themselves and shun every form of prostitution. She called on mothers to spend more time at home so as to inculcate the right values in them.
   Ayo Badmus, urged children to run away from prostitution. He also commended the state government for banning children from hawking
   Hundreds of children joined the protest carrying different placards . They later marched to the Governor's office where they were  be received by Mrs Adejoke orelope-Adefulire,Deputy Governor of Lagos State.
   Stars invited but weren't present include kate henshaw,Kwam 1, fathia balogun, and jide kosoko.

Lagos Deputy Governor Hosts Gulder Ultimate Search 8 Champions

    The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Hon. (Mrs) Joke Orelope-Adefulire, has predicted  that a female contender will one day emerge as the winner of Gulder Ultimate Search. She said this while hosting  the 10 Champions of Gulder Ultimate Search 8  .
     Mrs. Orelope Adefulire commended the female contestants for their performance, despite facing the same challenges as their male counterparts; and having to face the harsh conditions of the jungle
     The Deputy Governor also welcomed the GUS 8 Road Show contingent to Lagos, after a tour of the home states of the Champions.  She remarked: "I must congratulate and welcome you back home, because Lagos is the home of Nigerian Breweries Plc."

     She noted: "Let me say that the government of Lagos State under the leadership of our governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola, lays much emphasis on the development of the youth and he has asked me to receive you on his behalf. Because part of what we do in Lagos is to develop our young people, encourage them and motivate them. And we really believe that going by what you have started with our young people, this also adds value to their existence and gives them the ambition to say that one day, I'll become what I'll like to become in the future."
        This year's Champions visited Oyo, Edo, Delta, Anambra, Rivers and Lagos states.
