Tee A celebrates 15 years on stage Posted: 29 Aug 2011 09:31 PM PDT One of the pioneers of stand-up comedy in Nigerian Tunde Adewale, a.k.a. Tee A is rolling out the drums, in celebration of his 15th year 'on the stage'. Regarded as a super-MC, writer, presenter, comedian and entrepreneur, the University of Lagos graduate has built a career as an international entertainer; working, through the years on private engagements, big-venue concerts and his own solo show in Lagos, London and the US. And he's build a chain of businesses along the line. Adewale is the founder-CEO of First Class Entertainment, the Owner of TymeOut Lounge in Ikeja, Lagos, the Executive Producer of TymeoutWith Tee A and host of the Live 'N Naked series. And it all started nearly two decades ago when, as a young man, Tee A found his talent, and developed it through exposure to Bill Cosby materials and invaluable support from comedy grand godfather Ali Baba. The comedian confirmed to close friends he's 'going all out' to 'thank God, my fans, clients, colleagues and supporters' for a wonderful and amazing 15 years. We're told a DVD is in the works, as well as comedy concerts that'll hold in Lagos and Abuja. The concerts, sources say, will be reminiscent of the old Live 'N Naked series, and will feature mostly Tee A materials from the past, present and future. 'It's difficult to believe we've done 15 years already' Tee A tells us in a yet-to-be-published interview. 'It all looks like yesterday. But we must celebrate; we must use this opportunity to set a new agenda for the industry, and also challenge ourselves to move on to the next level...' He says: 'Yes we're doing a 3-in-1 event. But for now I'll leave you to continue guessing what these three elements are'.

African Entrepreneurs quiz Aliko Dangote in MTV Base Meets with MTN Posted: 29 Aug 2011 10:29 AM PDT press release Young African entrepreneurs come face to face with the continent's most successful businessman, Aliko Dangote, in the latest, penultimate episode of MTV Base Meets…with MTN. Nigerian Dangote, 54, has a lot to teach African youth about entrepreneurship: according to a recent issue of prestigious US publication, Forbes Magazine, the self-made billionaire is now the richest man in Africa and the 51st richest person in the world - with a net worth of US $13.8 billion.
Starting with relatively humble beginnings in 1977 thanks to a loan from his wealthy uncle, Dangote has since built one of Africa's largest conglomerates, employing more than 12,000 people. While cement remains the most prized jewel in his crown, Dangote's sphere of influence now spans sugar, oil & gas, transportation, banking and textiles, exporting, importing, manufacturing, real-estate and philanthropy, among others. Putting Dangote on the spot at Lagos' Eko Hotel were Nigerian investment banker and MBA student J.G. Ayodele, Zimbabwean born US based Public Administration Masters student Farayi Chipungu, photographer Yomi Black from Lagos and Liberian singer Jerrilyn. In each episode of MTV Base Meets…with MTN, African youth are given the opportunity to meet and question Africa's political, cultural and business leaders. Among the interviewees involved in the series to date have been music legend Hugh Masekela, UK businessman Richard Branson, Nigerian media mogul Ben Murray Bruce, South African politician Julius Malema, Liberian President Madame Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf and Rwandan President Paul Kagame. MTV Base Meets Aliko Dangote with MTN aired on MTV Base (DStv Channel 322) on Monday 29 August @ 20:30 CAT, Wednesday 31 August @ 22:15 CAT, Thursday 1 September @ 18:30, Sunday 4 September @ 15:00 and Monday 5 September @ 16:00 CAT. The final influencer still to come in the MTV Base Meets…with MTN series is R&B artist and philanthropist Alicia Keys (premiere Monday 5 September).
