Air Conditioning Companies Struggling In The Recession

By Bob Anoube

The recession has affected all sorts of businesses. In Britain we have been predicted a long hot summer. Great news you might think for the Air Conditioning Industry, well things are not all rosy.

Many air conditioning supply corporations are fighting currently. The difficulty is that air-con is a costly product.

Imagine if you can you're an owner of a massive old building. You mat have modified the building into serviced units. These are leased to small firms, on an once per month rental.

In this hot summer your renters desire cool air to work in. What do you do? Are you able to afford to have air-con? It may cost ten's of thousands to have it installed. In the present climate who's going to loan that cash to you? The banks might, but they can possibly need a private guarantee from you. Do you want to be leaving yourself bare to private culpability? Possibly not that's the reason why limited company protection exists.

However if you do not spend the cash and get the cooling system put in you might find the tenants have voted with their feet and taken space in a spot that's air conditioned.

Otherwise if you're a business and you own your very own building, you have got the same concerns. You need to keep your people cushty in the weather, but are you able to afford to make capital spending, at a point in time when it is hard enough to pay the wages of the staff you have.It is extraordinarily tough.

This makes it very hard for a business such an air conditioner, who should be raking in th money in weather such as we are predicted, but the economic situation means that they suffer like the rest of the economy.

This eventuality has lead to a considerable number of aircon corporations acting to seek bankruptcy protection thru administration.

The administration process is ideal as it helps a company in a bit of a financial mess, to take stock of it's situation. It could re-align its staff requirements, change it's stock purchase so that it carries less stock and retains more cash. It will also allow a proposal to be made to creditors to ensure the continued survival of the business. Unfortunately some creditors may not be paid in full, but at least they will receive something and the rump of the business will continue on.

So in this hot weather, rather than being envious of all of the work that it'll mean for aircon corporations, consider that like the remainder of us, they to could be wrestling.
