Filipina Dating Tips

By Anthony Galindez

The Filipina dating scene is a mixed of tradition and culture from other country. Though it might be derived from other countries, all considerations one should take are perhaps much similar to those with the female sex. Here are some guides to those that are new to the Filipino dating scene.

Pre-date Preparations

Filipinas have been brought up to value hygiene. In fact, daily bathing is a common Filipino practice. Thus, one of the major turn-offs for any Filipina is a dirty-looking or unkempt man, particularly one with unpleasant body odor. If you aim to impress her, the first thing you'd want to do before the date is to take a good, long bath. Of course, you have to make other hygiene considerations as well. Here's a checklist that might be helpful:

- Do you have clean nails?

-Have you gargled with mouthwash?

-Is your hair presentable? Have you recently had a haircut? Have you combed/styled it?

-Are your shoes neat and clean?

-Are your clothes clean and well-pressed?

-Have you shaved?

Remember that first impressions last. Nobody is expected to look immaculate every single day. But looking or smelling unclean will give your date the impression that you have poor personal hygiene all the time. This will prevent her from wanting to see you again and finding out what a great person you really are inside.

The Actual Date

Be there at the time you've agreed on, or five minutes early. Even if "Filipino time" tends to operate at least a half-hour late, a Filipina might think she is being stood up if you do not get there on time. It is common courtesy to arrive before she does. Just don't get there overly early- it may pressure her into speeding up her pre-date preparations and make her frazzled.

Being a gentleman, leaves a great impression on your date. Women, whether old-fashioned or feminist, still can't fault a man for opening the door or pulling a chair for her. When it comes to Filipina dating in particular, a gentleman is always favored. Try to make her feel special or a princess even for just a day.

Don't be stingy with sincere compliments. If you think her hair looks great, tell her so. The best compliments are those that are genuinely meant, and specific. Women love compliments but too many of them, and too frequent, will make her think you are resorting to flattery. Do not tell her white lies, such as telling her she looks very slim when she is in fact, quite chubby. She will see through them.

Women likes to chat, be sure you learn how to listen. Refrain from hogging the conversational floor or from talking about yourself all night. While you would like to impress her, it will have the opposite effect if she will end up thinking that you are disgustingly self-centered. Instead, let her do a lot of the talking, and listen- really listen.

Don't just act as if you're listening. Ask questions when you're curious or interested about certain things she said, which you will be anyway, if you truly pay attention.

It's appropriate for a gentleman to pay for the first date. It is customary for the Filipino dating scene to pay for a date. However if she insists to pay for it instead, don't resist let her do it. If the two of you enter a commitment, however, she will no longer expect you to keep picking up the tab. Don't worry.

After the Date

Some women prefer not kissing on first date. Yet at the end of the date, offer a small kiss on the cheek - offer nothing else, expect nothing back. It totally depends on your dates body language and action if she wants to do more than that.

It's not necessary to call after your first date, don't be too pressured on this thing. Your actions at this point should be base on how the date went well. If you don't click then there's no pressure for you to get a second date with him. However if you're interested for a second date go give her a call for your second date.

The Filipina dating scene is much like as of the dating scenes with the rest of the world. Your success will depend on how you did well on your first date. If by any chance, you're first date is a disaster don't get discourage instead, consider this a valuable lesson or practice for when the right one comes along.
