New Video;Material-16 bars ft AY & DL

Posted: 07 Sep 2011 09:53 AM PDT

On August 15th 2010, Material released the first Volume of 'Da Undisputed' Mixtape. Without any formal promotion, the mixtape grew and gradually became a hot topic.
As an artist, he proved his lyrical prowess and deep understanding of english and yoruba languages. He has recently concluded the recording of 'Da undisputed' mixtape Vol II, and quite interestingly featured some heavyweight underdogs.

One of the singles on the mixtape is titled '16 Bars', a rap track featuring DL and AY, two talented naija/UK rappers. As usual Material whose verse is predominantly in Yoruba, clarifies why he is a seasoned artist with the use of heavy punchlines.
The second volume of the mixtape which will be released soon, promises to be one of the best mixtapes. So watch out for this talented artist.

Eva Rebrands To Evaezi

Posted: 07 Sep 2011 07:17 AM PDT

Who wants to compete with heavy weights like Eva Longoria, Eva Mendes and Rapper Eve?
Well, definitely not Nigerian singer Eva.
The lady honourably bowed out of the 'Eva race' and changed her name.
In this cyber-google world of ours its important that people can find you at  the first click.
So Nigeria's Eva is now Evaezi.
That is her full (native) name actually. She is from the Isoko tribe and the name means "A pure and honest heart/soul".

Okay so now we could google her up a lot easier. The lady has been nominated in two categories of the Hip Hop World Awards for 2011:
She is contending for the Recording of the Year award and Best Female Vocal performance award.

Her next album tentatively titled "The Core of Me" is also cooking.
But she did not only change her name, she also changed her look; cropped almost bald head with a smear of blonde in the front: A silky shiny look.
She came into the industry with the single, 'No Cry' and says her music is still evolving saying that her latest release, 'Better Than Her' testifies to this evolution.

About her music she is quoted as saying: "I find myself wanting to experiment more… to bridge the gap between the African and the Western… The type of music I do today is afrocentric in nature but experimental in pattern."

It is also speculated that the change in name and look stems from the broadening of her horizon.
A suggestion that she might actually be going head to head with the other Evas in the showbiz global village hence the need to distinguish herself more.

A quote from her seems to affirm this speculation: ". I wanna stay grounded in my roots in terms of identity as I reach for the sky, especially now that I am in talks with interested international distributors."
And if you think the near bald look is a little extreme for a thick chic like Evaezi, well she is also quoted to have said: "I hate being predictable!".

By the way the name is pronounced  ay-vah-ay-zee.

It's official: Lil Wayne's "Tha Carter IV" has sold 964,000 in its first week according to Nielsen SoundScan, easily enabling its No. 1 debut on the Billboard 200 chart.

It is his third No. 1 album following "Tha Carter III" and "I Am Not a Human Being."
According to Billboard"Carter IV" earns the biggest sales week for a hip-hop album (or any set by a male artist) since his own "Carter III" bowed with 1.01 million on the June 28, 2008 chart.
"Carter IV" also marks 2011's second-biggest frame, behind Lady Gaga's 1.11 million debut with "Born This Way."and it   shifted 362,000 digital copies in its first week. That marks the second-largest digital sales week of all time for an album; again, behind "Born This Way," with 662,000 downloads.
"Tha Carter IV" is off to a fast start courtesy of both a hot single "How to love" and an eve-of-release performance by Wayne on the highly rated MTV Video Music Awards telecast on aug.28
