Reggae pioneer Leonard Dillon dies of cancer in Jamaica Posted: 29 Sep 2011 11:04 AM PDT The leader of the pioneering reggae group The Ethiopians has died in Jamaica. Leonard dillion was 68. Daughter patrice dillion says her father died Wednesday at her home of lung and prostate cancer.She says Dillon had been diagnosed with cancer in June and underwent surgery to remove a brain tumor earlier this year. Leonard Dillon began his career using the stage name jack sparrow in the early 1960s. He recorded a series of ska songs, including "Bull Whip," which featured a young bob marley on backing vocals. Dillon later formed The Ethiopians, a trio whose best known hits were "Train to Skaville" and "Everything Crash."Dillon is survived by seven children. AP |

Rapper T.I. to be released from halfway house today Posted: 29 Sep 2011 04:39 AM PDT Rapper T.I is set to be released from an Atlanta halfway house after spending about 10 months in federal prison on a probation violation. T.I., whose real name is clifford harris was arrested in September 2010 in Los Angeles on drug charges. He was sentenced to 11 months in prison for violating the terms of the probation he received after he was convicted of federal firearms charges. He was released from an Arkansas prison and sent to the halfway house on Aug. 31, put back in federal lock-up over a dispute with prison officials, and then returned to the halfway house Sept. 15. |

Well here is a hint. Mr Seye Kehinde who is also publisher of other publications would be taking a big part in a mentoring programme in a few days. Nigerian Idol season II launches Posted: 29 Sep 2011 03:06 AM PDT Yeka onka-season I winner The season II of Nigerian Idol has been officially launched after a successful season I which produced Nigerian Idol, Yeka Onka. Season II is produced by the Optima Media Group (OMG) and Rapid blue format. It continues to enjoy the sponsorship of Etisalat, in association with Sony and Pepsi.We are committed to ennsuring that the standards from the past show are surpassed this time around. This is idol-it is the real deal," he said. New host, singer Tiwa Savage and VJ Ill Rhymz would anchor the show.
