| College course on Jay- Z offered at Georgetown University Posted: 03 Dec 2011 10:03 PM PST  But Dyson insists that his class confronts topics present in any sociology course: racial and gender identity, sexuality, capitalism and economic inequality. The course has generated controversy as critics of Dyson believe that Sean Carter's lyrics have no place in an educational institution like Georgetown. "It just happens to have an interesting object of engagement in Jay-Z -- and what better way to meet people where they are?" Dyson said. "It's like Jesus talking to the woman at the well. You ask for a drink of water, then you get into some theological discussions." Dyson himself says he's previously taught classes on Tupac Shakur and Marvin Gaye at the University of Pennsylvania. | Video;Taylor swift and Nicki Minaj receive their Billboard Honours in New York Posted: 03 Dec 2011 04:16 AM PST  Country Music Association (CMA) Entertainer of the year ,Taylor swift and Young Money cash Money(YMCMB) rapper nicki Minaj received their Billboard honours for Woman of the year and rising star of the year respectively.They were honoured at the Billboard seventh annual women in Music event that took place in New York yesterday . "I would go through every single page and every single chart and just daydream about what it would be like to see my name in there someday, And today I walked in to flashing camera bulbs and all these important people in music, and I thought, 'I guess that's what it looks like" Taylor swift said at the event . see video below.  |
| Michael Jackson's doctor ,Conrad Murray files appeal notice in LA Posted: 02 Dec 2011 11:02 PM PST  The doctor sentenced to four years behind bars for causing Micheal jackson's death has filed a notice that he intends to appeal the conviction. Conrad Murray signed a one-page document that was filed in Los angeles on Friday seeking all records and transcripts from the case. The filing does not indicate the basis on which Murray will argue to overturn his conviction or sentence. The 58-year-old was sentenced Tuesday to four years in jail for his involuntary manslaughter conviction, but the term will be automatically cut in half. Murray's challenge will be heard by a state appeals court in Los Angeles, assuming he files an opening brief at a later date.Superior court judge Micheal pastor blasted Murray's conduct on Tuesday, calling him a disgrace to the medical profession.  |
