Eight Finalists Unveiled for Jay's Talent Hunt Prize Posted: 06 Dec 2011 08:02 AM PST Finalists and the judges In preparation for the grand finale scheduled for December 16, 2011, organizers of Jay's Search 2011 took time off their busy schedule to audition 20 contestants on Thursday, December 1, 2011 at Protea Hotel, GRA Ikeja, Lagos. The judges Segun Obe, Wunmi Obe, Tunde Obe, Folusho Olateju Leigh, Dewale Adenmosun and Angela Emuwa had a filled day screening talents who came out from the nooks and crannies of Nigeria before they eventually made a decision to pick eight people. "I can assure you that we got more than we bargained for" Wunmi Obe, Jaiye Aboderin's elder sister says "infact the initial plan was to pick six people, but we just couldn't bear to see these talents waste, hence we have eight finalists" Kaduna based Daniel Oramali and 13 year old Awoyemi Tolulope will join Akanji Abiodun, Olusola Lasisi, Aiyegbusi Tolu, Ilori Alaba, Odemonke Bassey and Temitayo Ogunbusola to slug it out for the grand prize of N250, 000, a Kopykats Entertainment recording deal for one single, one music video, a makeover/photo shoot, airplay, promotions and publicity on December 16, at an exciting evening of music, comedy, dinner and dance. That is not all N100, 000 cash goes to the 1st runner-up while the 2nd runner-up gets N75, 000 cash. The other three finalists will also get consolation cash prizes of N50, 000 each. "Winners will be selected by the guests whose votes would make up 40%, while our judges made up of individuals of reputable standing in today's music industry, would make up 60%" Wunmi Obe says
This is not the first time the family have honored the late Jaiye Aboderin by rewarding budding talents. In 2006 and 2007, they partnered Hip Hop World Awards in rewarding musicians Asa and OD. For winning the Jaiye Aboderin Next rated category, the two acts each got a cash prize of 100,000 Naira, alongside the prestigious award.
