Are You Aware Of The Symptoms Of Herpes Infection?

Are you suffering from herpes infection? Do you know the symptoms of herpes? Do you know the ways through which it can be prevented? If you want to know the answers to all these questions, this article may prove useful for you.

These infections are caused by herpes simplex virus also called HSV. This infection can cause infections affecting your mouth, face, skin, anal area, genitals. There are two main types of herpes infections, called type I and other is called type II. Herpes labialis, commonly called type I cause infections above the waist. This type of herpes is also called 'cold sores'. Genital herpes is another name of genital herpes. Doesn't matter what type of herpes you are suffering from, they all can affect the skin at any site of body.

Symptoms of this infection vary from people to people. Many people get infected and virus enters the body but no significant symptoms can be seen in them. While for some, painful blisters can occupy their body. Sometimes, blisters heal completely but can reappear at some point in the future. When mouth and lips are occupied with herpes simplex lesions, they are referred as 'cold sores' and 'fever blisters'.

Appearance of lesions on various organs is the simple symptom that can make you aware of the infection. Viral culture or polymerase chain reaction tests can be performed to diagnose it. Blood tests are generally not preferred as they are not relevant. Finding antibodies to herpes can let one conclude that body was exposed to this virus sometime but it does not mean that current lesions have appeared due to lesions.

One should try his level best to prevent themselves from getting infected with herpes. The only reliable prevention for herpes is to avoid any close physical contact with anyone who has recently been suffering from the disease. All sexually active individuals should make a habit of being regularly tested for sexually transmitted infections like herpes as it happens that one is suffering from this infection without knowing.

Acyclovir can be used to suppress herpes outbreaks and viral shedding, reducing the risk of spreading herpes infection. The partner of the sufferer should also be at alert as only proper medication does not guarantee the stop of spread.

One should take proper precautions in attempt of not getting infected with herpes. If diagnosed, should consult the doctor immediately to avoid any complications.
