Leonardo DiCaprio is an amazing actor. This is undeniable truth. You can argue it, but you'd be wrong. The guy consistently gets to choose the best roles available and it is no secret that he's Martin Scorsese new favorite actor to work with (the previous of course being Robert De Niro).
But which of his films are the best? The following movies are my favorite Leonardo DiCaprio films in his already illustrious career.
The first movie I will discuss happened to be directed by, surprise surprise, Martin Scorsese, and is none other than Gangs Of New York. Being a native New Yorker, this film depicted the early days of New York City like I had never seen before.
Another movie of his that I feel makes the cut of his all time creates is the Martin Scorsese biopic, The Aviator. This movie chronicles the life of Howard Hughes, an eccentric and troubled director/aviator during the 1920s. If there ever was a role that Leonardo DiCaprio deserved to win an Oscar for, this was it.
When it came out, The Beach was one of my favorite movies. This movie is paradise turned into Lord Of The Rings. This film was also one of the first that Academy Award Winner Danny Boyle directed.
Inception was easily my favorite film of the year. If this movie does not get at least nominated for Best Picture of The Year, it would be a serious shame. After all, the reason they expanded the field to 10 movies in the first place was because Christopher Nolan's last film, The Dark Knight, did not get a nomination.
Who can make a list of Leonardo DiCaprio films and not include The Departed. There is a reason that Leo was cast in the role of Billy Costigan, a cop on the wrong side of an undercover investigation. His paranoia in this film rubbed off on me. This movie is directed by the great Martin Scorcese and has an all star cast including Matt Damon, Mark Wahlberg, Alec Baldwin, Jack Nicholson, Martin Sheen and the lovely Vera Farmiga.
These are just some of Leo's best films thus far. I just looked up his iMDB page and it appears he has a whopping 22 films in the making! So don't be surprised if you see another article of this sort soon with even better films of his.
