Michael Jackson's personal physician, Dr Conrad Murray, has been found guilty of the involuntary manslaughter of the star by a jury in Los Angeles.

A panel of seven men and five women took two days of deliberation to reach a verdict.Michael Jackson died on 25 June 2009 from an overdose of the powerful anaesthetic propofol.Murray, 58, could now receive a maximum prison term of four years and lose his licence to practise medicine.Dr Murray's lawyers argued that Jackson self-administered a lethal dose of the drug while he was out of the room.Murray was remanded in custody without bail until he receives his sentence, set for 29 November.
Explaining his decision, the judge said Dr Murray was now a convicted felon and had considerable ties outside the state of California, meaning he could not guarantee that the doctor would remain in the state.
Dr Murray sat silently in court, shifting slightly in his seat as the verdict was read out.
Court officers began to handcuff the physician as the judge made his final announcements, before leading him away into custody.

The verdict marked the latest chapter in one of pop culture's most shocking tragedies — the 2009 drug-overdose death of the King of Pop at age 50 as he was about to mount a series of heavily promoted concerts in London that he hoped would turn his career around after a slide prompted by child-molestation allegations and years of bizarre behavior.

Justin Bieber to take paternity test to refute baby allegations

Justin Bieber has agreed to take a paternity test to further refute allegations he fathered a child with a fan, and a spokesman has confirmed the teen pop star is also investigating legal action of his own.

Bieber will take a DNA test in later November to prove he is not the father of a newborn, sources told the Canadian Press and gossip website TMZ.

A Bieber spokesman also issued a statement to The Canadian Press on Monday saying that the singer's team would pursue all legal avenues.

"It's sad that someone would fabricate malicious, defamatory and demonstrably false claims," Matthew Hiltzik said in an emailed statement.

"We'll vigorously pursue all available legal remedies to protect Justin and to hold those involved with bringing this suit accountable for their actions."

Last week, an American woman named Mariah Yeater filed a paternity lawsuit against the Stratford, Ont.-born singer in San Diego. Her suit calls for child support and a paternity test. A hearing is scheduled for Dec. 15.On Friday during an appearance on NBC's Today, the 17-year-old Bieber denied the allegations that he fathered the child, born in July. He added that he has never met Yeater.

"To set the record straight, none of it is true," the teen chart-topper declared.

The MTV Voices Dinner was held last evening as part of the 2011 MTV Europe Music Awards festivities at the Merchant Hotel in Belfast, Northern Ireland. During the ceremony, several artistic portraits were unveiled that represented the current dominant group of Pop acts, including Beyonce and Lady Gaga.

Additionally, there were caricatures of Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Eminem and Bruno Mars, who were all donned in royal garb in the paintings.

Antonio banderas Animated film "Puss in Boots" held on to the domestic box office crown with a surprisingly strong second weekend performance that beat new Eddie Murphy comedy "Tower Heist."

"Puss in Boots" brought in $33.035 million at U.S. and Canadian theaters to finish first in the weekend box office race. Eddie Murphy and ben stiller's tower heist debuts with $25 million.see full chart below

The MTV Europe Music Awards 2011 was dominated by Lady Gaga last night in Belfast.

Lady Gaga triumphed in the Best Female, Best Song and Best Video categories, as well as Biggest Fan – a brand new award that celebrates artists with the most committed fanbase.

Justin Bieber, Bruno Mars and Thirty Seconds To Mars each won two awards with pop phenomenon Bieber taking home the trophies for Best Male and Best Pop. Thirty Seconds To Mars were honoured in the Best Alternative category and Best World Stage, while Bruno Mars crowned a brilliant year with victories in the Best Push and Best New categories.

Ecstatic Korean boy band BIGBANG were the surprise winners at the awards, capturing the inaugural Best Worldwide and beating off some of the world's biggest stars in the process. Hip hop maverick Eminem repeated his triumph of 2010 with a win for Best Hip Hop artist, while Katie Perry's captivating live performances were rewarded with Best Live. Linkin Park was a popular choice for Best Rock.
