Drake's 'Take Care' album debuts at No.1 on BillBoard with 631,000 copies

Posted: 23 Nov 2011 09:53 PM PST

As expected, Drake nets the third-largest sales week of 2011 for an album, as "Take Care" debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, selling 631,000 copies in its first week according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Last week industry sources pegged the set's start around 675,000 to 700,000 which makes the copies sold  slightly smaller number than initially expected.

Still, the only two sets to sell more in a week this year were Lady Gaga's "Born This Way"  (1.1 million) and Lil Wayne's "Tha Carter IV" (964,000).
"Take care " is Drake's second chart-topper, following 2010's "Thank Me Later," which launched with 447,000.

Justin Bieber finally takes Paternity test to refute baby claims

Posted: 23 Nov 2011 09:35 AM PST

Justin Bieber submitted to a DNA test last Friday to disprove, once and for all, Mariah Yeater's claims that he fathered her son Tristyn, 4 months.
"Yeah, I took it," Bieber, 17, said of the test during an appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman, airing Wednesday. The procedure was simple, the pop singer explained. "They just swab your mouth."
The ball is now in the court of Yeater, 20, who must provide a DNA sample from her little boy to see whether it matches that of Bieber. In a paternity suit dropped last week, Yeater claimed she had a 30-second sexual encounter with Bieber backstage at an L.A. concert in October 2010, giving birth to Tristyn 9 months later.

"I could smell a weasel," Bieber (currently going strong with girlfriend Selena Gomez) told Letterman of Yeater's outrageous suit. "It's gonna happen. Being in the spotlight, people can say whatever."

Nicki Minaj has been named Billboard's "Rising Star" for 2011, capping off a year that has seen the hip-hop star top the charts with her massive-selling "Pink Friday" album and, most recently, earn a pair of trophies at the American Music Awards.
The Rising Star Award acknowledges Minaj's phenomenal year and will be presented at the Billboard Women in Music Event on Dec. 2 in New York City.

Minaj will be joined at the sixth annual event by Billboard Woman of the Year Taylor Swift, her friend and an early booster through radio interviews and a widely seen concert cameo.

"I am deeply honored to be recognized by Billboard," says Minaj. "My nation of barbz and I have come a mighty long way; yet we are nowhere close to where God will take us. Sit back and enjoy the ride."
The rapper and singer has emerged as one of music's most popular entertainers since releasing her debut album "Pink Friday" late last year.

Nigerian Music superstar Tuface idibia and his friend, Matthew Ohio, saved the life of a police officer who  was shot by armed robbers on sunday night.Tuface  and Ohio were on their way from a club to Southern Sun Hotel, Ikoyi around 3am when they discovered the body of Corporal Ganiu somewhere along Muri Okunola, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Ohio, the Executive Producer of Industry Nite explained  they ignored the rumours that gun shots were heard on Muri Okunola and left the club for the hotel in Tuface Idibia's car, with him behind the wheels.
When they saw the body lying on the street, they feared the many dangers that could come with stopping on the road at that time of the morning but they pushed such thoughts aside and stepped out to help the man.
They were informed that the officer was shot in the hand, stomach and leg by armed robbers barely 5 minutes before their arrival and was separated from his other police partners.Tuface and Ohio immediately helped the bleeding officer into the car and drove him to Reddington hospital, also in Victoria Island.
The hospital was initially reluctant to accept the patient as it was a gunshot case, but eventually admitted him based on Tuface's status.Ganiu was subsequently transferred to an unconfirmed hospital by the police and is now in stable condition.
Tuface has tweeted about the incident confirming the officer is ok
