Yoruba Movie Academy Awards Debuts-Nominees List

     The Maiden edition of Yoruba Movie Academy Awards(YMAA) is set to hold in Ogun state .
    The plans for the award  ceremony was unveiled by ogun state government commissioner for culture and Tourism ,chief olu odeyemi who reaffirmed the significance of the Yoruba movie industry in the development of culture and tourism in the state."It is worthy to note that Abeokuta is fast becoming the movie capital of the Southwest as plans are also underway to build a world class movie village towards the attainment of this historic objective," the commissioner declared.
   According to the president and executive producer Mr Tunde Oshinibosi laface,"The unprecedented growth of the Yoruba movie industry calls for an opportunity to honour and celebrate creativity, quality and hard work amongst practitioners on a yearly basis thereby encouraging them to further excel"."There is an urgent need to tap into this sector creating our own OSCAR".
    The ceremony is scheduled to hold in May at the cultural centre,kuto,Abeokuta as part of celebrations marking Governor Ibikunle Amosun's one year in office. 
    The first ever YMAA which is being powered by Ogun state Government ,Laface entertainment and zmirage Multimedia will be a red carpet event with style and glamour .

  After several years as a couple, Angelina Jolie and brad pitt are engaged. Pitt's manager confirmed the news to AP .
    Cynthia Pett-Dante said that there isn't a wedding date "at this time." She also said that the engagement "is a promise for the future."Pitt and jolie  have three adopted children and three biological children.
Pett-Dante also said that "their kids are very happy."

Intruder Arrested for Sneaking Into P.Diddy’s Hamptons Mansion

     A New York man has been accused of breaking into Sean "Diddy" Combs's East Hampton mansion, where he apparently he ate food, drank liquor and wore the rap mogul's clothes.
   The New York Post reports  quamine taylor of Queens was arrested at the sprawling home on April 1. He's being held in the Suffolk County Jail on trespassing and petit larceny charges. The unemployed 30-year-old has not posted $2,000 bail.
   "I've actually been going to the house from time to time since 2001," Taylor told NY Post. 
  "I stay there a lot, but Sean gets funny sometimes about me staying there," Taylor said.
In his first break-in, Taylor tried to pass himself off as Combs' cousin when cops found him intoxicated after he took a dip in Combs' pool.
This time, Taylor spun a story that he was a close personal friend and even convinced a security detail of the lie when he accidentally tripped an alarm in the mansion.
"He grew up listening to [Diddy's] music," Taylor's worried mom said. "He has a long history of mental illness, and he has been off his meds for a while. We have been trying to get him some help."
Taylor said he only went to the house for some much needed R&R.
"I really didn't go to Diddy's house because I'm a big fan of his. I just wanted to get out of the city for a while. I was actually hoping to stay like 15 to 17 days," he said.

Kwame Relaunches Nigezie, Unveil New Yoruba Movie Channel

    One of Nigeria's veteran broadcasters and contents providers, Femi Aderibigbe, popularly known as Kwame is in the news. Aside relaunching Nigezie, Nigerians first 24 hours music/lifestyle channel, the veteran has also introduced a 24hours Yoruba movie channel known as Orisun.
   Following the brief disappearance of Nigezie from the broadcast scene, the executive producer says "the brand is back, bigger and better. It's now well packaged to provide the best of quality programming that is 100% proudly Nigerian".

   Kwame shed more light on the need for the retreat and re-emergence of the brand with plans for the future. "Nigezie, the all music station will continue to be a yardstick for quality entertainment and become a platform for effective self expression for thousands of creative people within and outside the country, with prime programs such as E-XTRA, TEAR RUBBER and NIGERIAN TOP 20. The channel will still showcase the positive mental attitude, tenacity and vision of the Nigerian spirit".

"Since the inception of the brand in 2004 with Global Sounds, Virtual Media Network has been in the forefront of the entertainment and lifestyle scene in the country by helping to redefine urban contemporary youth culture and serving as a social change agent for promoting the uniqueness of the Nigerian spirit, this it did for the past years prior to its pulling out to repackage itself".

"The company is now strategically positioned and scheduled with nothing less than the best of contents that will help to project the brand to the world. In the actual fact, VNM has put itself in a position that has made it and the contents they provide to be exportable even beyond the shores of the continent, Africa.

   Speaking on the second pioneering brand, Orisun (meaning the source), Kwame said "the indigenous Yoruba channel will mirror the lifestyle and culture of the Yoruba race via movies, soaps, documentaries, series, talk shows and a host of other programmes, hence it will portray the uniqueness of the Yorubas. The channel will serve as the source of high end quality Yoruba entertainment".
   As regards the broadcast platform for the rebirth of Nigezie and the launch of Orisun, Kwame said "the introduction of the digital terrestrial platforms in Nigeria has urged us to launch the 2 channels on the StarTimes Platform. Nigezie broadcasts on Channel 128 while Orisun broadcasts on Channel 130. The plan to use the platform came as a result of the fact that in the nearest future, the digital terrestrial platforms will create unimaginable possibilities in the industry".
   Kwame also disclosed the plans of acquiring their own satellite equipments with which they would use to uplink their contents to  broadcasters all over the world at a minimum cost to them is on. He hopefully stated that this will be accomplished before the end of June, 2012.

    R&B/pop star beyonce has penned an open letter to her role model and first lady,Michelle obama .The singer published a hand-written mash note to the First Lady on her Tumblr page recently, calling Obama "the ULTIMATE example of a truly strong African American woman.

Obama Calls Kanye West 'Very Talented' But Still a 'Jackass'

    President Barack obama has told the Atlantic he prefers Jay Z over kanye west,who he called "very talented but still a "jackass"
   Obama memorably dubbed West a jackass in September 2009 after the hip-hop superstar's notorious and rambling interruption of Taylor swift's acceptance speech at that year's  MTV video music awards.
"I like Kanye," Obama told The atlantic's david samuel at a political fundraiser in New York City. "He's a Chicago guy. Smart. He's very talented."
"Even though you called him a jackass?" Samuels asked."He  is a jackass," Obama replied." But he's talented."
   The president has previously said that he has Jay-Z on his iPod, as well as Frank Sinatra, and opera legend Maria Callas. But no Justin Bieber.
