Whitney Houston To Receive BillBoard Millenium Award

       Late music icon ,Whitney Houston will be honored posthumously with the Billboard Millennium Award in a tribute performed by Jordin Sparks and John Legend at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas .
    Houston's daughter, Bobbi Kristina, and sister-in-law, Pat Houston, will make a special appearance to accept the award in her honor.
    The tribute is a fitting role for singer/actress Sparks, who plays Houston's daughter in the upcoming remake of the film "Sparkle," which hits theaters in August. 
    Houston, who died Feb. 11 at age 48, holds the distinction of being the first artist ever to have seven consecutive No. 1s on the Billboard Hot 100 and over the course of her career notched four No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200, including "The Bodyguard" soundtrack. 
    Her biggest hit, "I Will Always Love You," spent 14 weeks atop the charts in 1993. 
    She earned 16 Billboard Music Awards, and has sold 170 million combined albums, single and videos worldwide. Legendary singer,songwriter,producer stevie wonder will receive Billboard Icon Award.This year's Billboard Music Awards airs live May 20 on ABC at 8 p.m. ET from the MGM Grand Arena.

Jennifer Lopez Tops Forbes' 100 Powerful Celebrity List

        American pop star Jennifer Lopez has topped the annual Forbes list of the 100 most powerful celebrities in the world, taking over from fellow pop singer Lady Gaga and beating out media mogul Oprah Winfrey. 
    The 42-year-old singer and actress jumped a surprising 50 places from last year's list that measures power by entertainment related earnings, media visibility and social media popularity.
     Forbes estimated Lopez' earnings in the past 12 months at $52 million, through her gig as a judge on the popular "American Idol" television talent show, a new clothing line and an upcoming tour. 
      Winfrey, who has admitted struggling with her OWN TV network after ending "The Oprah Winfrey Show" syndicated TV chat show last year after 25 years, kept her No. 2 slot from last year, earning an estimated $165 million. 
    Canadian pop star Justin Bieber, 18, also stayed at No. 3 where he debuted last year, earning $55 million, with Forbes reporting he has become a serious investor whose portfolio includes music streaming service Spotify.
      Pop star Rihanna landed on the list for the first time with estimated earnings of $53 million due to hits in the past year such as "We Found Love," and "Talk That Talk," while also landing lucrative endorsement deals with the likes of Nivea and Vita Coco.
       Dropping four places from last year, Lady Gaga was ranked No. 5, earning $52 million, while new "The X Factor" judge Britney Spears returned to the list after a one-year hiatus landing at No. 6, earning an estimated $58 million helped by a successful tour. Kim Kardashian was also a notable newcomer at No. 7. 
    She earned $18 million , the lowest amount in the top ten  but attracted ample media attention for her splashy wedding and divorce. Pop singer Katy Perry landed at No. 8. Rounding off the top ten was Tom Cruise at No. 9 with the comeback success of his "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" movie that earned $700 million at the global box office, and Steven Spielberg's various ventures in TV and movies earned him an estimated $130 million to place him at No. 10. 
Other notable celebs on the list are angelina jolie (13) , lebron james(15), beyonce(16) , simon cowell(18).
      The collective earnings power of the top 100 dropped slightly in 2012, with this year's crop earning a collective total of $4.4 billion, down from $4.5 billion in 2011. The full list can be viewed at www.forbes.com

Jay Z ,Kanye West To Launch European Tour With £500,000 Party

    Two rap moguls, Jay z and kanye west are are hosting a lavish  party  in london this week to kick off their European tour
   According to thisislondon ,the pair are due to play the first date of their joint European tour at the O2 Arena on Friday. After the show ,will mark the launch with a £500,000 bash at the former home of casino Fifty in St James's Street.
   A list Guests expected  include Jay z's superstar wife,Beyonce, pop star rihanna and kanye west's new squeeze Kim kardashian   .
  About 400 people are expected in total, and tables will be available to book for between £5,000 and £15,000. Food will be supplied by Giorgio Locatelli, the Locanda Locatelli restaurateur currently running pop-up venue Pret A Diner at the four-storey, Grade II-listed building.
   Partygoers will be plied with Armand de Brignac champagne, also know as Ace of Spades, magnums of which cost more than £1,000 in most West End clubs. A source close to the rap duo said: "This is to celebrate the first night of the European tour and they want London to know they've arrived. The place is going to be crazy and they want it to be the party of the year. It will be filled with beautiful women, people will be fighting to get inside".

     The identity of her husband to be has been revealed to be Alhaji Kehinde Oloyede  Almaroof who is a politician and estate developer. 
  Funke who is popularly known for her hit movies (jenifa and omo ghetto) is only inviting close friends and family to the ceremony according to sources .
