The fusion of Music and fashion

To most music lovers; "music is life" and to most fashionistas n fashionistos  "fashion is like a breath of life" .Whatever your own opinion about either of them ,There is no doubt that both of them play an important role in daily living .In my own opinion, both of them merged well together is "LIFE"!

The logic I'm using here is this:  You can have "garri" alone and it will taste good but it will probably taste better if taken with "groundnut" right???(crazy logic I know…lol!) What more can I say….that's the way I see the fusion of the music and fashion industry …Independently each of them is dynamic but when  fused together, there is no denying the eclectic combination n excitement it brings to its fans. Personally I think both industries are kinda dependent on each other , as most musicians tend to lean into the fashion industry (needing help of stylists , creating their own fashion labels n more ) And fashion designers use musicians to promote their labels .Nowadays some fashion shows are even mixed with musical performances to make it more entertaining.

The two industries are closely related and the interesting aspect of their fusion is that it cuts across people of diverse backgrounds ,ages ,personalities e.t.c thereby giving both industries  more fans, customers ,sponsors e.t.c..Most times  , I've noticed that the fusion of music and fashion influences on a youth helps in building that youth's personality and that's why most youths like to dress up like their fave music idol coz they feel like they can relate to that particular musician's style. As a musician its really important to have a fashion sense , style personality (or "P" for persona  as Naeto C says..lol).Because it's not the music alone that sells but the image or persona that's portrayed to the fans (especially the youths) Hence , this is where "style" comes in. Imagine if Diddy ,Jay-Z e.t.c came out lookin  too much like a plain jack …Don't think they would hav that much fans despite their musical talent..#justsayin  a musician's style helps promote his/her music.. Musicians like Beyonce , Rihanna ,Diddy ,kanye West ,Pharrel …e.t.c are appreciated  not for their music alone but also for their sense of style which is why most times , designers use them to promote their labels/brands like louis vuitton ,Nike for Kanye West ,Thiery Mugler designin costumes for Beyonce e.t.c.

Noticeably , the music n fashion fusion comes to play during events like Grammy's ,Vma's e.t.c..As you see designers associating themselves with musicians whom they love their style n designing what they wear to such events and the musicians in turn promoting such designer by wearing such outfit …Fashion designers sometimes associate themselves with the particular music scene that they appreciate or admire..So, sometimes music is the passion area that labels , brands use to build their credibility among youth audiences..And sometimes that's what probably inspires a new season collection!

The merging of the music n fashion industry helps a lot in the improvement  of both industries and in general makes the entertainment industry feel really vibrant to its ardent fans .And I know a lot of us "entertainment buffs" hope to see a lot more of this fusion in our naija entertainment scene so it can bring in a lot of energy to the scene n make it more fun especially for our fashion industry which is really blowing up right now…… I'm hoping  the merge will feel as good as eating garri n groundnut

Sabdat is the 4th contestant to be evicted from GUS

Posted: 13 Oct 2010 01:35 PM PDT

It was a hilarious morning today in the camp of the Gulder Ultimate Heroes. The wedding arrangement that was being sarcastically put together by Kunle and Caroline for Chukwuma and Mercy the previous night continues this morning in the jungle.
Kunle led the pack while others followed in this game plan to marry off the recalcitrant Mercy to the fun loving ebullient Chukwuma. The two contestants that are being forcefully match-made are sworn enemies and their camp mates decided that the best way to get them to embrace peace is to join them in a holy jungle wedlock.

Surprisingly, Chukwuma who was notorious for his comical wise cracks and ability to make fun of others didn't take the drama lightly. He felt obviously debased by the idea of his wedding drama to Mercy. While all this was going on, Mercy was catching her fun, giggling, smiling and making faces in approval of the whole drama.
When the wedding drama subsided, the remaining 9 contestants filed out gleefully for the day's challenge. None of them could foresee what the future holds for them in this quest for fame and fortune adventure.

They got to the task zone where Bob-Manuel Udokwu, the task master was waiting for them. He welcomed them and clearly introduced and read out the instruction for the day's challenge where winners and a loser must emerge.

The game started; clear winners emerged and three of the ladies failed the round. They are Sabdat, Mercy and Uzioma. The three are given second chance to compete against one another. At the end, Mercy and Uzioma scaled through. Pitifully, 27 years old Sabdat Bamitale Ahmed who is fondly called Mama Jungle by her campmates, los
t out.
